The GTA 6 volume lane

What Roblox and Minecraft volume channels teach, applied to the GTA 6 channel

Your decisions, and what the data says about them

From the channel-launch outline (work/in-development/gta6-channel-launch/), which owns the decisions and the schedule. Decided by you: a VOLUME lane of 3-5 videos a day ("not spam") next to a HERO lane; long videos (1-2 hours, high watch time, about half North America) for $10-20 RPM; launch day must produce a large number of videos; the channel monetized before launch. Proposed, your pick due Oct 27: VOLUME as stream-to-series (numbered parts, 20-60 minutes, 1-2 a day) and HERO as a myth lab.

  • 3-5 a day on one channel is untested, and in GTA even daily is unproven. Holding channel size fixed, doubling the upload rate goes with more weekly views among channels posting at least weekly (Roblox +63%, GTA +71%). Past about three or four a week the games split: Roblox still gains (+55% among channels at 3.5+ a week), GTA does not measurably (-3% (range -41% to +53%, 154 channels)), Minecraft neither (-20%). Inside a channel, busier weeks do not lower each video's views in Roblox (+7% per 7 extra) or GTA (+1%), but do in Minecraft (-46%). Five a day on one channel appears only on farm channels. So the extra daily videos are a test: the block test below settles it in your own data.
  • Two ways the big creators add volume beyond one channel's daily video. (1) A second premise channel in the same game, posting new videos (DaniRep runs three GTA channels at 3.5 a day combined; Speedy two Roblox channels at about 2 a day each); this needs no back catalog. (2) Compilation channels that re-post published videos as 1-3 hour cuts (Caylus, Cash, Foltyn, Techy and, in GTA, Waffloos); these need a back catalog, so month 2 and later, and AI can build them without extra filming. (IcyDeluxe's 3-hour GTA channels repeat few titles, so they may be original long sessions.) Each extra channel needs its own Partner Program approval. HIS CALL: whether and when, for either.
  • Your 1-2 hour bet: long videos earn per video, and few channels make them daily. Channels that make original 60+ minute videos post a median 0.32 a day in GTA (46 channels, 40k per video) and 0.08 a day in Minecraft (44 channels, 278k per video, the best in the millions). Of the 108 channels classed as original long-video channels (by channel name, so a few are compilations or stream archives), 13 post about one a day or more, mostly small; the two big ones are Here's Johnny (3.7M subs, 1.0 a day, 108 minutes, 257k per video) and Burak Oyunda (3.5M subs, 1.4 a day, 68 minutes, 10k per video). Daily premise channels run a median 19 minutes. And the hours: 3-5 finished videos a day at 1-2 hours each is 3-10 hours of finished video, more on camera, every day. Your own numbers (launch outline) say RPM follows minutes watched per viewer, not length. HIS CALL: lengths for the volume lane.
  • Launch is the early window. In 6 of 6 Roblox breakout games the first weeks' videos had a higher median than later ones (early videos are also older, so part of it is age).
  • Myths. Caylus's GTA myths run is 19 long-forms, 16 of them 25 minutes or less, two over an hour and a half; it peaked in 2022. The launch plan's myth lab is 40-60 minutes.
  • Every video a different premise, with you talking. YouTube's repetitive-content rule and its spam rule on AI mass-production look at the whole channel.

At launch: one channel

  • The VOLUME and HERO lanes on the new channel, each video its own premise.
  • The weekly winner gets a part 2: viewers ask for more of a specific video, not more videos (page 1).

Later, HIS CALL

  • A second premise channel in the same game (the DaniRep model) once the main channel's format works.
  • Compilation channel(s) from month 2: AI re-cuts the published back catalog into 1-3 hour compilations.

Volume formats

Formats that come out of an ordinary play session, so one recording day feeds several videos. Each video carries its own question, rule, goal or area, so the formats repeat and the content does not. Comps are real videos from the GTA and Roblox/Minecraft samples (views, channel, subscribers, year, length).

A recording day and the edit

Recording (PS5, each recording up to 60 minutes)

  1. One premise per recording, written down before you start.
  2. Talk the whole time: the sampled volume videos run a median 224 spoken words a minute (14 English videos).
  3. Say each result out loud (it becomes the Short and the chapter title).
  4. Assumption (not measured): about 1.5-2 hours recorded per finished 15-25 minute video; longer videos need proportionally more.

What the edit does

  • Cuts dead time and failed attempts (sampled volume videos: median 5.5 scene cuts a minute).
  • Layout, captions and graphics: setup research. The gaming-edit tool (v0) cuts dead time, splits sessions into parts and finds highlight candidates; the face cam and voice path into PS5 recordings is still open.
  • Game radio off while recording (music claims).

Week 1 (Nov 19-25)Day by day: stream replay, numbered Parts 1-7 (one a day), two HERO videos (30 myths on Nov 21, 25 tests on Nov 23), GTA 6 Lab #1 and #2, a tips video, "First 10 Things I Tested", 3 Shorts a day, streams on Nov 21, 22 and 25.The early window. The launch slate is about 2-3 long-forms a day plus streams; any extra premises go on top of it.
Weeks 2-6The block test below.
Month 2+Second-channel decisions (HIS CALL).

The test and the rules

  • Block test (weeks 2-6): five 7-day blocks, base, high, base, high, base (for example 3 and 5 long-forms a day), everything else the same, posting order shuffled so the extra videos are not always the weakest. It runs from late November into December, across the Dec 2 move, so it may need to shift.
  • Score each block on its own uploads: the total views of the videos posted in that block, each measured at the same age (7 days after upload), so earlier blocks' tails do not count.
  • Noise band and decay: launch interest falls week to week, so compare each high block with the average of the base blocks before and after it. The middle base block against the average of its neighbouring base blocks gives the noise band, with a floor of 15% (Thanksgiving, the Dec 2 move and Christmas week fall on base blocks and can make the band look smaller or bigger than normal): only a difference bigger than that counts.
  • Keep the high rate if both high blocks beat their neighbours by more than the noise band and the extra views per extra recording hour beat what that hour earns on HERO or Shorts work. Otherwise drop back. Drop any format whose last five videos all sit under half the channel's running median.
  • Sequel rule: any video at 2x the running median gets its part 2 within 72 hours.
  • Notifications: at most 3 per channel per 24 hours; outside the test, the strongest videos go first.

Monetization and policy

Partner Program (monetized before launch is the priority)

  • 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months (or 10M Shorts views in 90 days); 8,000 hours for new creators from Feb 1 2027. Review typically about a month.
  • Every cohort on page 1 is channels that already had a hit. A new channel starts at zero; pre-launch sessions, talking heads, livestreams and the HafuGo channel's push have to carry it.
  • Uploads over 15 minutes need a verified account (answer 71673); YouTube also limits uploads per day (answer 9890437).

What keeps a high-volume AI-edited channel monetized

  • "Channels where content feels interchangeable from video to video are not allowed to monetize." (answer 1311392)
  • "Using automated tools or AI to churn out high volumes of similar content with minimal changes" can mean suspension or termination. (answer 2801973)
  • "Videos simply showing a user playing a video game ... for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization"; monetization also depends on the publisher's license. (answer 138161) Rockstar's policy text covers "non-commercial" use; how it treats monetized gameplay is unconfirmed (no enforcement found). In practice: your face and commentary in every video, a distinct premise per video.

What we don't copy, and why

Volume tacticWhy not
Single-channel five a dayThe channels that do it get 1.5k-30k views per video and are reposting or guide operations.
Same-title numbered dailiesTitles that differ only by a number are the closest match to YouTube's repetitive-content description; numbered parts are fine when each has its own goal.
Kid roleplay stories and mascot machinimaKid audiences, made-for-kids risk, team-produced; GTA 6 is rated M.
Trolling and admin abuseNeeds other players: waits for GTA 6 Online.
Game hopping to the next Roblox hitGTA 6 is the breakout game for months; another game splits the audience.
Unedited VODs as the volume lanePlain gameplay may not be monetized; the launch plan's stream replays are their own lane, the volume videos are edited with commentary.

Risks

  • Repetition at the channel level. The policies look at the channel as a whole.
  • The capture path. Face cam and voice into PS5 recordings is still open.
  • Launch crowding. The GTA research counted 632 channels in GTA 6 news; these formats avoid news and walkthroughs.
  • Rockstar. No GTA 6 creator policy yet; spoilers, leaks and pre-release footage stay out.
  • Your hours. The block test gives its answer about six weeks after it starts (five blocks plus a week for the last uploads to age), around early January.
